I’ve recently updated my website, but here is past information. This was my first update after Katrina:

The First Post

I am currently in Nashville working on a grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Since October, I’ve been spending about three weeks here and then going home to New Orleans for a week or so. At the end of this month, I plan to head back to New Orleans for good. Please pray for us!

A Recap

Family: The family is doing ok. Logan is really enjoying Archbishop Shaw. He is doing very well academically and enjoys spending time with his friends. Bailey will go back to Lusher on Jan 17. That’s the school she has attended since first grade. It’s a great school and she’s really looking forward to it. She’s attended three schools this year! Carol is really making an impact at work, but she’s getting very tired of being a single mom. This has been a very tough time for her, but she’s done really well. I’m so proud of her and the kids! Matt is back at the University ofFlorida and like me, really misses home. I’m praying for him. I’m also very proud of how he’s handled this tough couple of years. Being with him was great at Christmas. I really miss him.

Extended Family: My mom and dad took us in during the storm. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law and her family in Tennessee really took care of us during the early days of Katrina. They kept us going as we watched our beautiful city being destroyed. My oldest brother and his wife have been one of my greatest blessings! My big brother calls and checks on me all the time. I have drawn much strength from our conversations. I have also been reunited with my other brother as he has also faced difficult times. I thank God for this.

Friends: My friends are dealing with many of the same issues that I am. It’s been such a difficult time for all of us. I’m very blessed to have good friends. Friends outside the New Orleans area have been so supportive! I cannot thank them enough for the phone calls, emails, and prayers.

Job: It seems that many of Xaviers students will return. I’m hoping that they will need me for the second semester that begins in June. If not, were going to have to make some very difficult decisions. Please pray for us. (Have I said that already?)

The House: It suffered very little damage. We hope to get a new roof soon because the FEMA blue roof is showing signs of wear.
